Most of the time, when I am conducting research, I right away head to what is wrong with and what are the pitfalls of the subject I am studying. This not to be negative, but the most lively discussions on the merits and faults of the subject matter happen when someone is critical of it.

Recently we had a salesman from a plastic distributor visit the shop. During the conversation, he related that they had lost a good customer. As he explained all the work his company had put into this customer, it came to light that the customer had grown large enough to have the purchasing power to buy direct from the manufacturers of the plastic. He made it clear that his company felt the situation was not fair on them.

I spend a lot of my time writing about management, but recently I have been focused on the "worker". A far majority of labor jumps into the workforce with never having been taught any basics on how to be a team player in the different types of jobs they may find themselves in.

For many high school students, their first job will be in fast food or retail. In my opinion, a class that can help set expectations for a first job would be very beneficial.
